THE EVENT The Match 2 Surrey XC league races for young athletes will be run separately from the Senior races. They will take place on 30 November 2024 at Nonsuch Park, Epsom, Surrey, KT17 2DE.
We will return to the usual format for Matches 3 and 4 when young athletes will compete at the same venues as seniors in January and February.
TIMETABLE We will use a similar timetable to that used successfully at Match 1.
11.30 U13 Boys approx. 3.1km
11.35 U13 Girls
12.00 U15B/U17M approx.. 4.3km
12.05 U15G/U17W
THE COURSES The U13 course will be one lap following almost the same course used for the Surrey relays on October 5th.
The U15/U17 course will begin with a short lap of about 1.2km and then follow the U13 lap. The first half of the main lap is flat parkland. But the second half, and the initial short lap for U15/17, includes rough grass and dirt paths that can be muddy after rain.
Start and Finish will be close to Nonsuch Mansion where there are public toilets and a coffee shop.
Course maps will be posted as soon as available.
BIB NUMBERS Every runner must wear the Surrey League bin number issued at Match 1. .
VOLUNTEERS As you know this event has been put on in an emergency situation and can only work with the help of volunteers from the clubs taking part. Your offers of volunteers have been extremely generous. We will work out exactly what we need and be in touch with team managers closer to the day.
GETTING THERE: Public Transport: By Train to Stoneleigh or Cheam. Several bus routes pass the park including 151, 470, X26 and 293 By Car: Nonsuch Park runs alongside the A24 London Rd at Stoneleigh. Car parking is not generous. There are two vehicle entrances and car parks from London Rd. A third entrance in the northeast corner at Cheam gate has two car parks either side of the Avenue. You will find some street parking to the west of London Rd at Stoneleigh. There is better street parking although harder to find around Castle Avenue and pedestrian access in the southwest corner from Castle Av. Also, a shoppers car park in Cheam village and access through Cheam Gate.
ULEZ: Nonsuch Park is on the border of the ULEZ. If you want to avoid ULEZ, drive to the south end of the park only. The entrance at Cheam gate is inside ULEZ.
