General Info

SURREY LADIES LEAGUE MATCH 3, WIMBLEDON COMMON, SATURDAY 13TH JANUARY.

Hosted by Belgrave Harriers and Hercules Wimbledon.

 

LOCATION.

The start/finish is situated on Wimbledon Common adjacent to The Causeway and West Place SW19 4UH. It is near the Fox and Grapes pub on Camp Road.

 

TIMETABLE. 

11.00am, Senior Ladies Division 1, two red laps, approx. 8km.

12.00noon, U15/17, one lap, approx. 4km.

12.30pm, U13 girls, one short lap, approx. 3km. They follow the same red route on the map but cut off just before the Windmill Road, (point X). They then follow the green route before rejoining the main route (at point Y).

1.00pm, Senior Ladies Division 2, two laps, approx. 8km.

 

THE COURSE.
The course follows paths and tracks on the common starting and finishing at the same place. The paths are mainly flat before crossing the Windmill Road, then after entering the woods they are undulating before climbing the hill up to the Windmill. Some of the paths can be muddy, others quite stony so trail shoes may be best although some prefer spikes.

 

TOILETS.

There are no toilets or changing facilities at the start. The nearest toilets are situated next to the Windmill café about 10 minutes walk from the start.

 

PARKING.

There may be very limited parking places along The Causeway and Cannizaro Road. Otherwise there are meters on some of the local roads off the south side of the common.

 

TRANSPORT.

The 93 bus to Wimbledon Village, alight at the War Memorial. The nearest mainline station is Wimbledon, then either catch the 200 bus up the hill, or a 20 minute walk.

 

FIRST AID.

St John Ambulance volunteers will be in attendance situated near the start. If there is an emergency on the far side of the course, the Ranger can be contacted o; 020 8788 7655.

 

NUMBERS.

There are no declarations on the day. All athletes should have been entered on the surrey league list before the race. They must wear the same numbers for each of the four Surrey league matches.

 

HELP.

All clubs are asked to volunteer at least one helper to assist with marshalling etc. If there are enough people, marshalling duties may be rotated. Please provide email addresses to; charlesdickinson@hotmail.co.uk in the week prior to the race so that marshalling positions can be allocated.
